Priority services register

    Hi all,
Ive joined here to try and get some help for an 84 year old gentleman, who has a learning disability, is deaf and housebound.
i want to sign him up for the priority services register and an online account, but every avenue I've tried it is put to a stop too because he has no email. He currently has a pre payment gas meter ( which he's had for years) not due to having debt but due to it being the easiest way for him to budget and pay his bills independently..he obviously is now having to paying fortunes. I/he want to get rid of pre payment meter and get a normal one, but to still pay money weekly with a payment card.
ive tried putting 18001 in front of the phone number but it doesn't work.
id be grateful for any advice on how to speak to a human being to try and sort this for him. ( just been on hold for 49 mins and got cut off)
do they have vulnerable people specialists who could help him/me??

thanks in advance for any advice or replies.

    ken.

Hi Ken. I appreciate the situation, but unfortunately in this day and age, everything seems to need an email address. Any chance you could knock up a 'spare' Gmail account for him so you can deal with communication or set up accounts on his behalf? I know it's not the best answer for you, but it may be something of a workaround? It's what I do for a couple of elderly folk I help keep an eye on things for.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

thanks, ive tried using mine but it doesnt give you the option of setting up a new account or even accessing his details… as it just says to log in as if one is existing already.

ive turned to twitter aswell to try get to speak to someone.

    cheers.

You can't use the same email address across multiple accounts, which is why I suggested setting up a free mail account like Gmail or outlook.com.

I have my own mail server, so just add extra mailboxes as I need them.

no, im not with them and don't have an account. I was using my email to try and set him one up🤷‍♂️.. to no avail.. they don't make it easy, let alone if you have a learning disability.
hopefully they will answer twitter or email.

    thank you.
