Ok, so do the following. Scroll through until you see the screen that says meter index, or just index.
make a note of the actual reading. On the front of the meter it should say either m3 or ft3 to say whether it measures cubic metres or cubic feet. Put the heating on for an hour, then take another reading. That way we can work out your actual consumption and tell you what it should be costing you.
If your boiler isn't working so well, you could be using gas but not heating your house very efficiently. You may be better off running the heating for longer so the boiler isn't trying to warm it up from cold each time.
But firstly, we need to work out your actual consumption to find out why it's costing a tenner a day.

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Nice one. Two cubic metres is approximately 23kWh. Prepay gas is about 11p or so, per kWh, so your hour's heating is around the £2.50 ballpark. An hour twice a day would be about a fiver, but your boiler could be working twice as hard if it's trying to warm the place up from cold. What have you got the room stat set to and have you got hot water on timed or continuous?
@retrotecchie my room stat if set to 17 my water is on constant as it a combination boiler. I'm going to try leaving my heating on 18 so that it's nit heating uo from being too cold and see how I go worh that. I really appreciate your advice.

Ok, go to the boiler. Look for any switch or setting for the water that says 'Comfort' or 'Eco' and turn it off.
Also, put the water on timed. That will save you a quid or two a day on gas. Those settings on means the boiler is constantly ticking over to keep it's internal heat store always hot. The benefit being, you save ten seconds running a hot tap to get hot water. The trade off for 'instant' hot water is that your boiler uses far more gas over 24h. Fine when gas was only 3p a kW...a killer with todays prices!
Learn to live with running the water a little longer for it to come through hot. Enjoy the savings.
Seriously, the hot water on a combi boiler is activated by turning on a hot tap and it senses the flow. The timer being on continuous for hot water is rather redundant, so put it on timer and have it come on just half an hour before you get up. if no-one is at home during the day, also block out that time period. You will still get hot water if you need it just by turning on the tap. Also, if the heating side of the boiler has a setting for 'flow temperature', you can knock that down a couple of degrees too...that will improve boiler efficiency a bit, saving even more precious gas.
I'm off the grid myself, so have an oil boiler rather than gas, but the same rules apply, regardless of fuel 👍😎
