Eventually, yes. I was desperately trying to save up a bit of my 'energy budget' to use at Christmas. Nothing left in the kitty now.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Oh @retrotecchie, violence is not the answer. Maybe before you leave you could prep some food for her next time or, do the washing before you leave? Just a suggestion 😅
My wife used to go away for work conferences leaving me to fend for myself, you know how it is with men when left to their own devices ,mess up one room move out to another, mess that up then have a mass clean up before the lady of the house is due back. Anyway, one time she was away she phoned one evening to ask what had I cooked for dinner? I said not much I nipped to the pub for a bar meal, she suggested going to the library to borrow a cook book.so I did, only I couldn't find one anywhere. I approached the librarian and asked where I could locate them, she looked at me pitifully and said, "in the men's sport section" .😁

Reason: Grammar
We have a freezer bursting with batch cooked food suitable for microwaving. We also have an A+++ rated washing machine that washes beautifully on 30°C and with a second spin means tumble dry on low heat in 30 minutes. There's just no getting through to her...
Plus, she filled the kettle to full this morning, made her pint of tea, had two mouthfuls and left the rest. Having just investigated the bread bin with a view to having a sandwich for lunch...just one crust left. And two bits of toast left on the side because she'd over-toasted it and it was a little too well done for her liking. I just scraped the carbon off, buttered it and ate it. A bit chewy, but hey, waste not want not.
We manage, mostly because I'm medieval when it comes to keeping a weather eye on costs, but my cashflow is very variable. I try to keep a buffer from the good times to offset the periods of famine which usually works out fine. It's just not helped when you try to budget for a lean period and the calculations end up going out the window!
I shouldn't grumble. There are many worse off than me. At least I've got a pair of Spaniels keeping my feet toasty👍
