Boiler flow temperatures are a bit of a trick. The most critical part of maintaining optimum boiler efficiency is not just the flow temperature, but also keeping the differential temperature between flow and return at the boiler just right. .....
So yes, reduce flow temp and you save money, but reduce it too far and you can go the other way again.
Yes I even went as far as to measure the inflow temperature and the outflow temperature from my one problem rad with a thermometer I use for my home brew beer making! As I recall it had a decent differential and led me to think that I hadn't gone overboard in reducing the inlet flow temperature to the rads. Maybe I should also do this at the boiler as well - look what you have started. This coming week will be a really good test of my boiler settings for sure with temps in the NE struggling above 1-2 C from about Wednesday.
its given us veterans a new purpose in life, hasn’t it?

What an absolutely lovely thread to come back to and to read all of your suggestions and advice. I've pulled the EPC report a little more and screenshot some of the sections and as suspected it does need some upgrades... probably some more financially viable than others.
I was also keen to look at the CO2 that the property generates. Currently at 4.4 tonnes of CO2 a year (average household is 6 tonnes per year).

Up to £14000 pounds for internal /external wall insulation! At least Richard Turpin had the decency to wear a mask 🦹

Normally in existing cavity walls blown mineral fibre or polystyrene beads.To be fair the cost of internal insulation is expensive especially if the walls need battening out and the electrical sockets ,switches need moving forward.
@Beki_EONNext
yes with the insulation boards / material at the back.You can get insulated plaster board with a vapour backing on one face, adding to the insulation property of the board. Don't forget the skirting would need reinstalling, and any coving at the wall and ceiling juncture.

@Plantagenet I really don't like plasterboard and this house has lovely decorative features...
It's interesting though to find out about these processes. I can't be the first person to ask these questions.
We may not be able to change the front windows as they are sash. Sash PVC is really expensive so we might do a make shift secondary glazing if they are really drafty!
