No I have checked every one, quite easy to do with their system. But even if one were they still shouldn’t be calling for heat if the stat functions correctly (which I have also checked). The Tado app gives much more information than the smart meter displays and apps. So I can see exactly when each stat is calling for heat, and even what level of heat. So a tado malfunction would mean it is calling for heat when it ‘says’ it is not. Which seems unlikely unless there is an electrical or wiring fault for the ‘master’ stat which controls the zone and which all the room stats relay to.
Why is gas being used during the night?

@MattB
process of elimination then , from now on. -
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

Exactly.
I can’t say I am looking forward to it. It is without my capabilities, and previous experience of bringing in specialists for both CH and electricity issues shows me that troubleshooting or fault finding are much much more difficult than installation or repairs. I understand why this is, although when we had an electricity current leakage repeatedly tripping the consumer unit, it took over a year to resolve with numerous electricians. Eventually it was only solved by a retired electrical engineer who responded to a thread on an electricians forum and volunteered to come over and look at it, because he enjoyed a challenge….. -
@MattB I guessing the thermostat would send its demand to one or more of the motorised valves, but as has been mentioned before a wiring fault is possible. We can speculate for ever - some detective testing is required, and then once the fault is found deal with rather than spend effort into changing things on hunches. At least the fault is not adding greatly to your costs at present, because it’s just keeping the home a tad warmer than it should be during the night.

I spend most of my working time faultfinding other people's lash-ups. I recently 'debugged' an installation completed by my former employers in 2016 that has never worked properly. I left the company in early 2013 and my former underling took over my role.
Rather than use industry-accepted tried and tested and time-proven methods of doing things, he decided he wanted to 'throw the book away' and come up with his own way of doing things. Not a great success. I just ripped out all his kit, went back to first principles, did it the way it should have been done...and made it work the way I originally designed the system before I left the company.
Took me and a colleague four days and a thousand pounds in materials to replace a system that cost them around £50k and hasn't worked properly in six years.
Sad thing is, someone signed off on it and they got paid for it...then they went belly up. So no comeback on them.Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
@retrotecchie
I would imagine that was both frustrating and satisfying in equal measures for you . No Mars bars for your former underling then after that! -
@Plantagenet
Well, he was dispatched for a year or so to the Middle East office until they closed down operations last year and he was repatriated to the UK. He's alive and well and now working for another company I have dealings with here in Wales. So I know where to find him when I get the urge to kick him!
