I am wondering if Eon will follow Octopus lead and select a peak hour of the day where if you use less energy you get paid for the reduction?
For those with smart meters only for obvious reasons. Technically there is no reason why Eon cannot offer this to match the Octopus offer.
But wil they..........?
Eon next are running an energy shift event test period at the present time. Emails were sent out to those with smart meters who have half hourly meter readings set up on accounts inviting them to sign up for the events, 29 I think over the coming months. Check some of the previous threads on here mentioning it for a better overview of customer’s experiences of the last two events.
@Plantagenetgood to know, checked my emails and no email for me and definitely get half hour readings.
I got an email signed up between event one and two but haven't received an invite to participate either, this I believe has been other customer’s experience also. Seems to be random who gets invited after signing up . I assume after the test period has ended it will be rolled out to all.

Thanks for the info. Maybe one of the people here can push an invite out?

I don’t think forum staff have any influence but I do know that you also need to make sure your marketing preferences are set to receive emails and texts before you stand a chance of being invited.
The energy shift event has been positive for me thus far (that means I have received credits to my account for both events). One hour a week for minimum effort seems a simple formula to follow (I appreciate everyone's circumstances are different) but I encourage others to give it a go.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Its not as though 'smart' meters are a new thing - I held out for ages before getting one (I am a 'traditionalist' - 'whats wrong with reading a meter' type of guy) but it really isn't doing me any harm sitting on the bookshelf. It simply gives me some control over my power usage and costs.
