I have oil central heating and understand there is a grant of £200 available from the government and that this will be paid via my electricity company which is EON. How does this scheme work and how is this amount claimed?
You understand correctly. I too have dragon-powered heating and will also get the £200. The initial figure was £100 and no fixed notion on how it would be administered but it now seems the plan is a credit on your electricity bill. When and how has not yet been worked out, but as soon as there is any statement from HMG as to progress, I will post accordingly. My local MP is fighting our corner and is keeping me very much in the loop. 👍
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Personally I would prefer a cash credit or a voucher redeemable with my oil company. I pay for my electric monthly in small chunks which is manageable. Oil is a big wedge 'up front' for a thousand litres. But, it is what it is...
What the Government is calling "The Alternative Fuels Payment" is to be made via electricity companies on 6th February at the same time you get your next £67
Eon has just confirmed to me that they will be making the full £200 payment (all in one go) by crediting my account during February. They have also confirmed that at any time I can ask them for any amount of the credit currently on my account, to be paid into my bank account and they will do that. As I have a big credit already, having some of it paid to me so I can buy more oil will be of much more value than having it sitting there!
