This is the second time ive realised ive no emergency credit on my prepayment gas meter? Has anyone else had this? It loiks like ive used emergency credit but i havent
If you were to suppose that having no emergency credit was something of an emergency in itself, you could try the prepay meter team on their 'emergency' number 0808 501 5088
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@Andreacooke12 I am aware of how you feel, I am sure that @meldrewreborn was coming from a supportive perspective rather than assuming anything.
As @retrotecchie said, in gas meter the emergency credit functions is pre-set in the card and meter and gets activated when credit drops below £1.
Perhaps, if you can post pictures of meters with the card inserted and the screen we might be able to give you some extra support. The customer service though would be the one able to see if there is an underlying issue with your account itself.
Emergency credit is a fallback position not for routine use. You should not rely on the emergency credit but you do need to contact customer services to ensure that it is there when you really need it.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

Usually the emergency credit is set to a max of £5 and once it is used it needs to be topped up with the next input to the meter. The credit is activated when it is under £1 for them to activate the emergency credit. Then insert the card into the meter and press the ‘A’ button. The meter will have a message on the screen and will ask to either press or hold the A button or B button again to confirm they wish to add the EC.
Standard prepayment meters have this option and I do believe that there must being something underlying your gas meter if for some reason you don't have emergency credit.
Yes well i dont take kindly to someone ASSUMING i rely on emergency credit when i was asking a simple question, so perhaps YOU should remind others about that too! Also i am fully aware of how my meter works and how to access ergency gas, but my point is there is NO emergency there, so obviously there is an issue, which eon consistently fail to help me with, so i thought i would ask on here!
Thanks, but they were no help last night
when i ran out of gas and could not get any emergency gas, i ended up rushing out 5 mins before the shop closed, they are pretty useless in an emergency and im meant to be a priority as i care for a vulnerable person, its disgraceful quite frankly
From what I understand, the emergency credit function on a gas meter is automatically 'activated' when the remaining credit drops below £1. Unlike an electricity meter where the power goes off when you hit zero and have to physically enable the emergency credit. Obviously for safety reasons. Other than that I can offer no insights, I'm afraid. I understand there are methods of turning the gas back on if you completely run out of all credit, but this racks up debt at a 'premium rate', which I'm sure you would not wish to do.
