Yipee, the results are in, my email reads that I did a great thing and managed a reduction of 37% (needed 40%), unfortunately I missed the target this time???!!!!!
So let me get this right, on sign up I had to reduce my usage from 0.39kwh by 0.19kwh to 0.21kwh, at 4.40pm I turned everything off in the house except for the living room (LED) light, I even turned the fridge/freezer off and boiler off, on the smart meter my real time usage for was almost zero until 6.20pm when I turned all the stuff back on.
This was as much a test for myself, make sure I had (almost) nothing on for 1hr 40mins so it covered the full 1hr of 5pm - 6pm and yet I failed, says it all really and I won't be participating in any future Energy Shift cons.
Well interesting you got an email saying you hit 37% as that’s the exact figure it said I had achieved
My target was to reduce 40%, from 0.5kwh to 0.3kwh
My smart meter said that I had used 5.87kwh up to 4:59pm
Switched what I could off and waited until 6pm
Smart meter then said 6.1kwh
So I used 0.23kwh, reduced by 46%
However EON say “oh no you didn’t”
Yes the system doesn’t work or it’s a con
Either way the whole thing is an insult anyway
They make £9,000,000,000 profit and I could have got … erm.. £1.08
@mtbgus Just had my energy shift result. Reduction of 39% but target not met. We sat in the dark, no heating on, no tv's, just watched on a tablet from 5pm - 6pm.
Leave essential items on they said, so fridge-freezer on, router and pond pump (essential otherwise my Coi will die). Delayed cooking until after 6pm. Smart meter indicated usage of just 25 pence over the hour. There is no way we could have reduced any more. I won't be going to that effort again
@bomber127 So early into this subject and a pattern of missing out by 1 or 2% seems to be the normal, no matter how what peoples smart displays tell them. Not worth the effort put into it, just the typical rubbish we've come to expect from these energy companies!
@mtbgus, I'm the same, just got results and failed to hit target. We switched all lights off, TVs, computers, etc. so we sat and read using battery powered LED lights and still failed. Won't be wasting time on this again.
I've just replaced my freezer for a new model and cut circa 750 kWh (over 30% of my previous consumption) of energy per annum. Because these items are on 24/7 they actually use a lot of energy. And a freezer should be able to hold the stuff frozen for 10+ hours without power safely enough.
If you try again turn the fridge and freezer off would be my advice.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
So we found this is a con too, turned everything off and had to get from 0.8 to 0.5. We achieved 0.2 (according to smart meter) so well chuffed.....
until the email today says we only saved 39% therefore no bonus.
Absolute rip off.
