They are out today
Don’t get too excited though, many of us (including me) hit the target they set
Yet we’ve all had emails saying we didn’t
Reminds me of Peter Kay’s Bullseye sketch
”Look what you could of won” as they pull the speedboat off the set and back behind the curtain 😂 -
Got mine today, exceeded the target (50% rather than the 40% they asked for) and am getting the money they offered within the next 14days apparently

Does anyone know what the parameters are for the energy shift sessions, reason for asking is I have taken part in a couple of sessions and the 1st one I met the target but since then I haven't done enough to meet the target. The puzzling thing is nothing changed everything was exactly the same during the times stated, I can be absolutely be positive about this as I was not at home ( I live alone) everything was turned off at the sockets and unplugged except the wifi box and smart meter. The heating is storage heaters and charge up over night so not drawing energy at the times of the energy shift.
I cant seem to find out how it works or where to contact to find out so hoping some of you lovely lot can help? -
@Skallywag37
Unfortunately, there is no hard and fast published information on how it is supposed to work out, other than the fact that everyone's targets seem to be individually set. if your usage is normally very low anyway at the target time, then there's very little you can do to get it very much lower.
This energy shift malarkey isn't worth a rub for folk saving a couple of hundred watt hours. It's entirely aimed at people who usually have a relatively high usage in peak times like cooking a big dinner in an electric cooker or charging their EV's. My average use over a day is 8kWh so in an hour, my average consumption per hour is 0.333kWh. Trying to make a noticeable saving from that low base is pointless for the purposes of energy shifting.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
@retrotecchie
Thank you for that, seems a little unfair for those of us who use very little power anyway that we can't get a reward for doing our bit. Just another con by the big companies for those of us who do care about the environment and the legacy we are leaving to our grandchildren and great grandchildren! -
@Skallywag37
We're already rewarded for 'doing our bit' with much lower energy bills than heavier users, so National Grid say. And nothing could ever incentivise me to change to a so-called smart meter. -

@Skallywag37 have a look at that link but in essence next time you take part in an energy shift event and let's presume it is 5pm-6pm. If you shift as much of your daily usage of electricity to 1pm-4pm so do your washing, tumble drying, cooking for the evening (heat up in microwave after 6pm or just have it for lunch) dishwasher, heat hot water tank etc. That all boosts your energy usage that the savings are calculated against.
