I think that it is highly unlikely that anyone at Eon Next understands all that!
When do we get the results of our energy shift task
-
Yes it does take a couple of cups of coffee when you get down to the equation at the end of the doc.
However the response was correct the full explanation of how the energy shift and money paid is calculated is there. -
@Mstty
Thank you for the clarification on the methodology. I was really implying that E.On Next hadn't provided this information, or at least an easy to understand précis, with their scheme.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
My interpretation of this document may be completely wrong but here goes...
The document seems to describe how the Demand Flexibility Service works between energy suppliers like Eon Next and the National Grid but does not involve individual customers.
The National Grid identifies energy saving periods and the energy suppliers bid to participate in the Demand Flexibility Service to reduce energy usage for those periods. Half hourly smart meter readings from all customers are added together are used to establish a baseline and to measure the results to determine if the energy supplier has achieved the required energy saving. The totals are across all customers and are in MWh. There is no mention of the individual end customer whatsoever.
According to the document an average of some previous days energy usage for the same half hour time slots is used to establish a baseline and as stated by @Mstty the baseline can be completely skewed by the actual usage in the 3 hours (average of prior 6 half hourly meter readings) prior to the energy saving period. However the baseline calculations mentioned actually apply to the energy supplier where the actual results are averaged over all of the 1000's of customers.
As far as customers are concerned "Each energy provider will have individual incentives for their campaigns" so energy suppliers don't need to refund all the money back to customers.
Even if you save energy during the period it is the energy suppliers discretion how much to reward you and it is not a fixed amount that is stated by the national grid.
The ESO’s Demand Flexibility Service | National Grid ESO
All the information and rules for the Demand Flexibility Service is laid bare on the National Grid website and it has to be because it is the only way the 25 or so surviving energy suppliers who are participating can get the documentation and as we all know anyone with a computer in their parents bedroom can set themselves up as an energy suppler and run up £Billion bills and then go bust.
Just one big CON. -
@Skallywag37 on a few occasions we haven't received any results so we don't know if we met our target or not. Is there anywhere to access this information. We did an energy saving hour last Saturday morning 9am to 10am but no results just an invite to do another this evening.
