I would like to switch my mother’s account to single tariff ( after storage heaters removed) but I can’t see how to do this online and repeated calls to Eon have gone unanswered.
I think you will have to persevere with customer service for this one. Phoning as soon as they open at 9am sometimes gets a quicker response and you may need your mother with you as it's her account. The WhatsApp route is out of action at present but you could try emailing them at hi@eonnext.com
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.

Your best bet is via email, but don't expect a straight forward answer unless it goes to someone who knows what they are doing!
I tried several times after moving to a house with E7 and was originally told I needed to pay £158 for an engineer to come and change the meter! despite it being a "smart meter".
After repeated calls and emails over a couple of months, I finally got someone via email who knew what to do, and they just switched my tariff from E7 to standard. They still take 2 readings but they are both charged at the same level.
Simon1513 was detailing exactly what happened to me. I have an economy 7 meter and I made a request for a single rate meter (through Facebook where I am sure you are chatting with someone in the Indian sub continent) and told to pay £158. They took the money quickly enough but I never heard from anyone about actually installing the meter. I got my money back and they charge me a single rate over 24 hours. But in time I still want to have a single rate meter. At present I am 'locked in to Eon'. If I go online to get a quote from another supplier, they know I have an E7 meter and I receive a peak and off-peak quote, which I don't want (storage heaters went out of my residence over 20 years ago!).
