thanks I’ll have a proper look but I couldn’t see any lights. My electric was on £8.50 when i left for work this morning, the only thing on in my flat is the fridge freezer and its now on £3. Definitely not right when theres been nothing on at all for 12 hours.
Topping up ridiculous amounts?

So you've been out all day and in about 12 hours you've used more electricity (£5.50) than my whole house uses in a day and a half with two of us at home all day.
Something doesn't sound right...there's something eating the herbs. Can you change the display on your meter to show actual readings in kWh and then get two readings for me, say an hour apart?
Then, if you can do the same again but this time unplug the fridge for that hour as well? It won't hurt the fridge or the contents, but will give us an idea of background load. And can you just check you haven't got an immersion heater that has been accidentally left on.Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I’ve got a beef with fridges and freezers. I recently replaced Freezer and cut 2 kWh from my daily consumption, or 70p per day. Yours though sounds even worse. I agree with @retrotecchie that you need to monitor consumption in kWh, which for electricity are the units on your meter. 8 per day is a national average for all household, mine is now down to 5, for a 3 bed extended semi with 2 occupants in al day. Try unplugging the fridge freezer overnight to see what happens to the consumption.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. @Zoe123
@meldrewreborn gives good advice there. If you turn it off last thing at night, check your meter in the morning before you turn it back on again, you'll be fine...they can usually cope up to 24h without detriment. -
@Zoe123
is it possible there are arrears on the meter from a previous occupier? I’m only exploring possibilities!
