In July we installed 10 Solar panels with an invert and battery, just finished the installation, the company shut down, leaving us with no DSO nor an MCS certificate.
Since then we are feeding the grid with our excess electricity but we can't fit in the SEG because it requires the MCS.
We tried to contact the different companies to come and check the system but no one say they would leave us an MCS because they do only if they do the job from scratch, supplies panels and inverter.
Now it seems no fair that for months I fed in the grid, my meter said I feed the grid with 40Kwh, and I can't get any money back. someone is reselling what I'm producing, and we can't prove an MCS because no one wants to check and write it.
Can E-On help us to solve the problem, we are between the devil and the deep blue sea.
@Matobato Great idea!
@cily35 There a section at the bottom that says:
You can check whether an MCS certificate exists by calling the MCS Helpdesk on 0333 103 8130. You will need to know the technology type of the system and the full address (including postcode) of where the system is installed.
Please let us know how you got on, and who you spoke to to get it sorted. 🙂
However, if a certificate has not been registered and the original installer has gone belly up, you're out of luck. MCS certificates are very rarely issued by MCS registered organisations against others workmanship, on the premise that it becomes their problem if anything goes wrong in future. It can happen, usually on payment of a significant fee to send someone out to thoroughly inspect and certify anything, make good any defects, etc.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@retrotecchie That makes sense really. I suppose the MCS registered fitters have to go through a training programme to ensure it's up to the MCS standards.
I'm hoping that it already has the MCS certificate logged somewhere for @cily35 🤞
If the installer goes belly up, it may be possible to recover money via credit card or debit card issuers. It’s another area where paying by cash, cheque or bank transfer limits your legal options when something goes wrong

Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

And pay a significant fee every year to maintain their accreditation.
I checked with MCS and my system is not registered
so I'm in a situation with no way out apparently any other supplier doesn't want to come and check the system to issue a certificate.
But I still send my energy back to the grid. The winner here is the grid, I was stupid maybe to not check before my supplier but it seems unfair to feed the grid, I prefer waste my over energy rather then feed the grid.
Since now I feed 300mwh to the grid, just pointless
