Well done , you have taken my full direct debit payment for November and not applied the government support credit to my account. Please rectify this or even an explanation.

Your November instalment from the government hasn't arrived yet. When it does, sometime in the first week of November, it will show on your account as a credit. My credit for October arrived on 06 Oct last month, just after my DD went out for my September bill. Too late to affect the DD, but still a credit on the account ready for my October consumption for which my DD went out today. Bills are payable monthly in arrears, the credit is an advance towards your next bill.
Of course, it depends on which day of the month your DD goes out, but rest assured you'll see the full credit applied over the six month period of the support grant.
Have a look at your October bill and see when your October credit arrived, or look in the Transactions section of your account online.

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
I’ve just had a conversation on WhatsApp as my payment has also been taken in full to be advised that my dd was increased without my knowledge and that the credit of £67 will be applied in the next few days.

@MackemMick This has also happened to me this morning. I would definitely like an explanation. Why was it taken off last month but not this????

@Muggers33
Timing. The November credits haven't landed yet. Not so much a function that EON.Next have much control over, but when the Treasury pay the grants. -
Does this mean we should adjust our direct debit so it is less? If they are crediting our account after our DD?

Eon told me this morning to go into my bank and fill out an indemnity claim as they can not give me the grant this month! I thought it was just my account that was affected so hopefully they will put it on our account soon.

ok..look at this example.
My bill for September was £75. For energy used in September at the old, lower prices. 01 October, they took the full DD. As I would expect.
So, 6th October my government money hits my Eon account. Whoop, 66 in credit. Then, my bill for October is generated, payable 01 Nov by DD.
When they tot up the bill, I've used the SAME amount of energy, but the prices are much higher. My November payment is now £100, but the account is £66 in credit, thanks to the grant, so they have the £66 I was in credit by, and just take the balance.
But I'm on a DD which pays in full every month. It may work a little differently if you have a fixed DD amount.
BUT if prices hadn't changed in October, and HMG hadn't intervened then we'd all carry along as before. But prices have shot up, so the DD would have gone up by the same proportion. The point of the grant is not to let you pay a smaller amount, but to 'top' up what you do pay in order to reduce the impact of the huge hikes in prices. TRUST ME...after six months, the government will have paid a full £400 towards your energy bills, but you will still be paying somewhere in the same ballpark as before.
My usage for the last six months was about £1000. For the next six months, I predict £1500. So, I'll still have to pay £1100 of that, but the government will pay £400. In fact, my DD will still need to increase by 10% anyway to break even.
Just an example, of course, not my actual figures.Last edited by retrotecchie; 01-11-22 at 11:59.
