sadly because Eon Next are not as good as other companies when it comes to these forward thinking schemes.
When our fix is up with Eon Next we will surely move to Octopus as they are forward thinking, include all and have a variety of modern tariffs that most people can save money on.
In the mean time Hugo (I hear they pay more) or loop energy apps are you way into the scheme.
I too have a SMETS2 smart meter for gas and electricity since August 2021 and my readings have been set to half hourly since August 2021 and have opted in to Marketing emails & SMS and I haven't heard a peep from E.ON.
Given the dire situation we are all facing with paying ridiculously high energy prices, E.ON should have made this available to all those that fit the criteria by default and as a priority and BEFORE this opportunity presented itself, not after, there is no reason not to!
The Government and MPs should be applying pressure to the inept OFGEM (yet again!) to do their job and act in consumers interests and force suppliers to enable initiatives such as this by default in order to ensure that customers who can and should benefit from this scheme are enabled to do so and they should not have to wait or jump through ridiculous hoops in order to benefit during a crisis such as this! Its another clear sign that energy companies are operating in their own interests and not that of their customers.
There is no rationale as to why this should be a 'lottery' and all who fit the criteria we should wait to be selected and contacted AFTER the initiative has passed. Be better E.ON!
In the end I had to join a slightly lower paying 3rd party app. I chose Loop but Hugo apparently pay a little more. The last two sessions they pay £2.50 per kWh in Amazon vouchers at the end of the scheme
just been emailed to say the last one I saved 5.69kwh so £14.22 and the previous session on the 19th Jan £12.72. I am hoping for big things on the session today not least because it was 1.5 hours long but loop are also paying £4.37 an hour so could be a £36-£50 reward as we did maximise our usage in the 3 hour in day adjustment period.
I suggest you need ditch waiting for Eon Next to do what is right and invite all eligible customers and sign yourself up to a 3rd party energy app to enrol like we did...horrendous really.
Another test event scheduled for 30th January between 0900-1000. Eon Next have signed up according to the ESO Portal Test Events the accepted bids by all the companies was £3/kWh from what I could see.
It now remains to be seen just how much of this £3/kwH reduction finds it way into the accounts of Eon Next customers 😁
As it was all advertised in the news, with phrases like "customers could get around £15 back", I thought I'd try again. I heard nothing back after the first one (for an hour) so no idea if I earned a reward or not, and the second one (1.5 hours), I got 34p. People like me who can't afford to use much energy anyway aren't being helped by this scheme at all.
@spoly40
As long as you have a smart meter set to half-hourly reads and are opted-in to marketing emails then that’s all you can do. You may or may not be invited to take part. Why one customer is invited whilst another isn’t is a bit of a mystery.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
