I have/had what I call variable direct debit accounts with numerous companies, including Shell, British Gas,Talktalk,Severn Trent and others. These companies raise charges for what I have used at set intervals and advise me they will collect payment by direct debit on a near future date. There has never been the slightest problem doing this. It means I don't have to worry about forgetting to pay bills. it is all done without my having to do anything further. So my question is, why does Eon not have this facility? I tried and tried to sort this with them and got nowhere, resulting in my cancelling the dd I had set up ready for payments to be made, and paid the bill in full online. Now of course they have changed my tariff and I am being charged a higher rate because i won't accept their version of dd. I will never accept having to pay a set amount of their choice every month which they can alter at will, usually upwards.Why does Eon not allow this kind of variable dd?
We do allow variable direct debits, if you get in touch with our energy specialists they will be able to get this sorted out for you 😊
i tried and tried so hard to get this across to a different person every time. I even emailed the CEO but got absolutely nowhere. The dd facility was set up at my bank, my account stated clearly that I was paying by dd but still I was harassed by emails stating that if i didn't pay the outstanding charges it would go to debt collectors. I gave up and cancelled rthe dd and paid in full. So you tell me how exactly i get Eon to set up the type of dd I mean, which does not mean Eon taking a set amount monthly but taking the full amount of the charges for what I have actually used. I don't know how to put it any plainer.
@Chusty
You had this same situation 4 days ago. Did you not get it sorted then with the E.on contact who was messaging you
No, one minute it seemed to be ok the next it was all wrong again.I gave up and then had a note from Beki to say that the notes she put on my account had been not read/ignored. By then I had given up and paid in full. Today's post is to ask why Eon don't have the facility I wanted, which I am now hearing they do. So why could i not get this across to anyone?

I think when this was discussed last time here it was found that many customer service staff were unaware of the facility. Perhaps one of the staff here can nudge this for you.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
How frustrating that this has become complicated again when it looked like the situation had been resolved.
As others have said above, the payment method you need to ask for when you speak with E.ON Next staff is 'variable direct debit', as opposed to 'fixed direct debit' which is where E.ON Next specify the monthly charge.
I pay by variable direct debit too so they definitely exist, although I don't think the option is always clear on the website. Hopefully you'll be able to get through to the customer service team at E.ON Next to get this set up, or one of the community managers here will be able to help you. Fingers crossed.
