I would be extremely grateful if someone could get back to me about this as I would be happy to pay by direct debit if I could speak to a human being or get a reply. I feel for those older people who do not use computers or smart phones and have no way of contacting you. I’m afraid you will have deaths over this winter if you don’t sort this communication issue out.
Cancel Direct Debit

I have repeatedly tried to phone and send WhatsApp messages and non have been answered. You have sent an email saying you are going to take £278 for the next direct debit which we cannot pay and will send us overdrawn. The estimate of usage is totally overblown and we are in credit. I’ve tried to change the DD on line but it will only go down to £245. Meanwhile I can’t stop you taking £278 out of my account unless I cancel debit, which I have had to do as I cannot get through to anyone from eon next to sort the situation out. I will set up a standing order as I want to pay for my usage. My last payment was £138 to be increased £278 means payment would be £140.00 more a month.

I'm sorry to read all that. the forum is a customer to customer space for the main part, Eon next personnel hover sometimes but often don't involve themselves. Cancelling your Direct Debit would result in a tariff switch which would add 8.6% to your bills on average. I doubt that that would help you. Since you are saying it the estimate of future consumption that lies at the root of the problem, I would assemble your evidence to show customers services that the current forecast is excessive. If they do not agree, another option would be to switch to payment by Direct Debit, but after the bill is raised. This would mean that your bills will be higher in the winter than in the summer but would give more time to sort out the forecast consumption matter. Prices though are near double those of last winter and up 27% in October, unless you are on a fixed tariff, so I hope you recognise that in your thinking.
The online system only permits approximately a 10% reduction in the DD amount. Others have suggested calling at 09:00 on the dot, or using the social media options - I agree with the view that these discriminate against us oldies.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio.
