You are on a fix tariff. Do I take it you pay by Direct debit after receipt of bill? And you want readings to be taken on (or very close to 22nd of each month) because it suits your budgeting ? Could you explain why a reading taken on 20th rather than 22nd it makes so much difference. - Once we understand, then we might, just might, be able to help - we're volunteers in the main here - we can't get into your account to fix anything ourselves.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

I imagine that they tried to take readings on 30 September/1 October because for 85% of customers that would affect their billing directly as prices went up circa 27% then for everybody on the variable tariffs. Even for the other 15% the government's EPG reduced many unit prices for fix tariff customers from 1 October and readings were highly desirable because the Government (taxpayers!) were paying a hefty contribution and that needed to be accounted for properly.
Readings at other times are merely information. Some are used as the basis of your monthly bills, others may not be used at all. But since the additional readings have no relevance, they can be safely ignored.
Some smart meters send readings every 30 minutes, but only a few impact accounts or bills.
PS I don't have a smart meter so they can only get readings from
1) me or
2) a meter reader - but as they don't send those anymore, I suppose its back to me.
@Karln I am really sorry that this has been impacting you so much. I am really sorry that we are taking longer than usual to get back to you in time. We do receive an incredible amount of messages each day and we are trying our best to get back to everyone as soon as we can.
I know that it can be very frustrating, perhaps @Johnh1995 advice is a good idea.

As far as I am aware, there is a legal requirement to send an actual meter reader occasionally. Every 18 months or two years, IIRC?
The idea of smart meters is to eventually negate that requirement, but that supposes everyone has a smart meter (they don't) and that the smart meter system is effective, reliable and consistent (it isn't).
There is also a mandatory requirement to inspect meters, which is the task of the meter reader. I don't think any of the supplier use their own meter readers anymore. Meter reading is usually subcontracted to Lowri Beck or Morissons. We get a meter reader round every year to 18 months or so.
