I have called eon several times and was assured the subsidy would be applied as a deduction to your direct amount. Yet today I hearing from people on Facebook that the full amount has been taken and no subsidy applied.
what actually is the position with direct debits and the subsidy, because eon are saying one thing and doing another.
Hi Andy65, it matters because I’m on benefits and I need to know just what is being taken so I know how much I can spend on food TODAY. If I spend based on what they say and not what they do, I’m in hole. That is why it’s important. I’m aware of their stated procedure, but evidence suggests it’s not happening, which could affect me and this causes great anxiety.
@koyunbaba Whatever you do, don't be relying on EONext to see how much money you have. They neither know nor care. The only safe thing to do is to log on to your bank and see what DD they have paid and for how much.
Thanks GSimpson, it’s painful advice because I was really hoping to get some relief for a few months, but I think it’s the best approach. Plan for the worst and hope for the best. 👍
@koyunbaba
my dd has been taken today , reduced by £67 as was promised. Still showing on app as not yet been applied , which is normal . The £67 from the govt has not yet been credited though , am hoping it will all appear when the payment is applied
They have just reset my DD to £40 per month for an electricity account in balance when the payments of £66 / £67 to be received over the next 6 months will exceed my electricity spend. I've told them to change my DD to zero for the next 6 months since I will be clearly in credit.

I fully understand that @koyunbaba, I was trying to make the point that Facebook might not be a reliable source of information. My Direct Debit has been reduced correctly, it usually goes out on the 1st of the month but due to the weekend it should have been today. As my normal payment is less than £67 nothing has left my bank today.
I can only guess but it's possible that eon-next are updating accounts in payment date order, so if you normally pay later in the month it may be that they haven't got to you yet.
