After a week or of sorting electrical problems I was hoping for a bit is respite, no such luck.
Two weeks ago E.on sent the new tariff for October, 52p per day despite paying by direct debit, 44p kW day, 12p kw night.
I did my meter reading yesterday and logged on to find that despite the government guidance my standing charge was 52p per day, my day kW rate was now a whopping 62p per unit and the night rate has gone up to 30p per unit!
I’m on next flew which I’m guessing E.on will argue isn’t a ‘standard’ variable tariff and I’m also on economy 7 which also isn’t mentioned in the price cap. Neither am I dual fuel which also, it seems to me anyway, further disadvantages me with regards to the
EPG scheme in as much as the scheme doesn’t appear to include electric only supply.
I’ve spoken to friends who are with E.on and it appears they’ve done the same to them. I’ve spoke to neighbours with different suppliers and they’re all on the new EPG of standing charge of 46p and daytime rate of 34p so it can’t be down to where I live.
Anyone else having these problems and does anyone know of any supplier taking on new accounts that reflect the governments price guarantee as clearly E.on aren’t taking the blindest bit of notice, even as a relatively low user those rates are crippling
Have a look through the countless other 'tariff' issues on this Forum - dozens and dozens of people essentially in the same boat as you (and me). Basically, suspend reality for a week or so and Eon Next will sort out the proper tariff cost. It will include the government reduction and our tariff will be in line with what we expect.
Unfortunately no instant changes - we all wait together.
E.On Next have got a lot of things wrong on this but you are not entirely correct either. Standing charges on economic 7 differ quite a lot in the 14 region perhaps 34-53 p per day. Using national averages only serve to confuse I’m afraid. The standing charges are not affected by the government guarantee and so the figures you quote at in fact correct. The unit rates though are incorrect and will be subject to the EPG reduction.
If you can relax a bit and be patient, all will be sorted eventually.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
@meldrewreborn I’m fairly relaxed..😂 I just find it frankly pathetic that a company this big seem to have been taken by surprise, they’ve had weeks to plan for this and it’s an utter disaster.
@Cosmo59 I gather there are many but E.on have had weeks to plan for this, every one else I know who isn’t an E.on customer appear to have no problems but a company as big as this to mess up in such a fashion demonstrates levels of incompetence at some level that’s almost beyond belief, and in our current climate competition for being utterly ineffective is strong so in that department at least E.on is a shining example..
Yeah but with few options to change supplier let alone 'switch' to a better deal (that was the good old days) - we are stuck and are left to hope they will get the message and improve. Not worth letting it affect our physical or mental health.
not everybody is unhappy! I’ve not been in to either of my suppliers websites or accounts because I know that it will be sorted eventually. My generation has seen foul ups like this often in the past, and we don’t subscribe to the view that error should never be made and if they are should be instantly corrected.
When somebody can show they are actually permanently out of pocket over this then i’ll Support them.
Perhaps you should go 'into your accounts' to see for yourself what others are talking about and experiencing - blind obedience to the 'it will be sorted eventually' theory has its limitations - maybe it wont.
