Why has EON Next applied this this tariff when electricity costs are now capped by the Energy Price Guarantee which is 34.0p/kWh?
EON Next Applies Wrong Tariff from 1st October
-
I now see as of 1 October my tariff has changed to Next Flex, 50.09 p/kWh 49.93 p/day (inc. VAT) from NextFlex 27.09p/kWh, 48.91p/day (inc, VAT).
Why has EON Next applied this this tariff when electricity costs are now capped by the Energy Price Guarantee which is 34.0p/kWh?

@sc489 same thing has happened to me

The information in the following link may help. It seems it’s going to take time for online accounts to be updated.
https://www.eonnext.com/electricity-...rice-guaranteeI'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit. -

Fair enough. I’m not employed by Eon Next, I’m just following all the advice from them as well as Martin Lewis and the government. That is to do nothing as it will all be sorted. -
@sc489
They'll probably use some excuse like "Our systems had to apply the original tariffs as they'd already been setup" and "we're working to adjust / correct the issue as soon as we can".
Until their systems are "sorted out", we'll probably end up paying the higher rates for units consumed, and it won't be adjusted retrospectively on any units used at the higher rate. I bet you'll then have to claim a refund.
Maybe I'm just an old cynic... -
Mine also has been updated with the wrong tariff of 51.71/kWh instead of 34p/kWh for electric & 14.85p/kWh instead of 10.3p/kWh for gas

Same here.
The page that JoeSoap linked to says this:
Standard variable tariff (SVT) customers.
The average unit price for dual fuel customers paying by Direct Debit will be limited to 34p/kWh for electricity and 10.3p/kWh for gas, inclusive of VAT, from 1 October. These unit prices have been passed from the government to us to ensure that they are used to calculate bills.
So it's not at all clear why the 80% price hike has been applied to our accounts overnight instead of the capped prices. Hopefully it will be corrected soon, but I haven't seen any explanation published so far..
