I received an email from Eon Next today, saying prices were going up etc. Then saying I was eligible for the £400 grant, so monthly bill would actually go down from the current £78 to the new £44. However, when I log in to my Eon account, it tells me my October payment will increase to £111. Which is correct? I'm confused.
Your DD will be £111 but the £400 help is split over 6 months so you will get a reduction of £66/67 every month for 6 months. £111 minus £67 = £44. You will revert back in April 23. Your account will be credited with the full amount over the 6 months so don't worry, it's the DD that's reduced and the government pay the rest.

Reason: added last bit.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I understand the maths, but don't understand why the account says the DD will be £111, if the actual payment, according to the email will be £44. Will this change before the payment is due then? Sorry if I'm being dense ;-)
Probably the system isn't up to all the change that's going on right now. I can't 100% guarantee that there won't be issues but we're all pretty much in the same boat and expecting our normal DDs to be reduced by £66/67 for the next six months so your DD should be reduced from £111 to £44 as per your email.
@SteveInCumbria
With prices going up your DD would normally be £111 now, but with the discount it will be £44 (or £45) for 6 months, then next year it will probably go up to £111.
Prices will be stable now for 2 years. The only way to reduce bills for a while will be by cutting consumption.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
This is getting ridiculous! Further to my original post, I got another email today, saying my payments are reducing still more. The email says:
You're currently paying £78.31 on the 3rd of each monthFrom 06/10/2022, you'll be paying £44.53 on the 3rd of each month
From 01/10/2022, you'll be paying £11.31 on the 3rd of each month
But going to my account, it's STILL showing £111
Why is there no option to say "No thanks, I'd rather keep payments as they are"? All this decrease/increase plays havoc with financial planning.
I understand that this would help a lot of people, short term, but as I can weather these increases, I just want stability, not all these see-sawing payments.
@SteveInCumbria
When the systems are up and running properly, you will no doubt be able to amend the DD yourself online to whatever amount you want. I adjusted my amounts regularly over the past 12 months.
