Around 1980, the house which we lived in got polystyrene beads injection into the cavity between outer brick and inner breeze block. It did what was expected of cavity wall insulation, with no problems. Bill saving was as expected. It was in a rainy and windy area of South Wales.
No personal experience but a neighbour had his topped-up with beads. The house is 20 years old so has some original insulation. We had some door knockers offering free insulation under the government scheme and they advised him that they could improve his existing insulation free of charge.
One drawback with beads used to be that if you had to make a big hole in the wall for say a tumble dryer hose then the beads would pour out. My neighbour told me that once blown in, his new beads would fuse together and no longer flow.
This may be of little help but might generate some better advice for you.

Retrofitting insulation to the outside of the building or to the inside of the house are safer, but more expensive, options.

Mir is a matter of correctly assessing the probabilities for a particular property in a particular location. For my own part 44 years have elapsed with no problems - but I recognise that’s no everybody's experience.
