Morning Rach 😊 - when looking at tariffs online you must remember that they do not show a VAT charge, hence why it may look cheaper when looking at your prices.
After the emergency budget, VAT on energy may be irrelevant👍
@Han_EONNext I'm due to start a new fixed rate contract on 5th October. How do I go about asking to revert to standard rate on that date instead?
Han will advise you to as Anasa stated when I wanted to change tariff stated as follows: -
The best way to get the ball rolling would be to get in touch with one of our Digi Energy Specialist and they will be able to specifically take a look at your account, you should also be able to find the tariffs online and adjust your payments accordingly to reflect your variable tariff.
You can do this either on hi@eonnext.com or by private message with Eon Next on Twitter as that is where Digi Energy Specialists can do it for you.
Let us know how you got on😉

Hi @Han_EONNext - I'm in the same boat in that I switched to the v20 fix effective 2nd September and now wish to switch back to the variable tariff. I echo the suggestion to allow people to do this online (since it was so easy to switch to the fix online). I sent a message to the WhatsApp number on the website requesting a switch back a couple of days ago but haven't heard anything yet. I'll try the email.
One question though - I believe there's a 14 day cooling off period when purchasing new goods or services, within which you're permitted to change your mind. That being the case, do I have the right to have the 6 or 7 days I've spent on the higher fixed tariff adjusted to reflect the variable rate? If this were a lump sum purchase, I'd expect to have the whole cost refunded, so I don't see why this would be any different. Would appreciate confirmation though.
@Bielsa19 Am in exactly the same boat as you and would also like clarification on the cooling off period @Han_EONNext please? I believe my cooling off period finishes tomorrow - haven't heard back after a couple of days now - and if I'm ended up charged more because EON can't get back to me in time I will not be happy!
Just had a reply from my query about going back to SVR:
" the current standard variable tariff prices will move to the Government Price Guarantee as of the 1st October 2022 however please note we will amend the unit price to fall in line with the new prices so you do not need to switch from fixed prices to standard variable tariff as we will amend effectively."
So it sounds like all of the fixed tariffs that are over the price guarantee will be adjusted accordingly to fall in line.
That is very similar to what Martin Lewis has just announced. IMPORTANT FIXED TARIFF INFO: I'm hearing fixed tariffs will have the same unit rate reduction as variable tariffs (ie roughly 30% off). So it looks like, unless you fixed at over the new Oct price cap level, your fix will be cheaper than moving to variable. More to check on this.
