On my electric assist pedal bicycle, I use 0.9 kWh / 100km
I'll use it for journeys inside 10 miles each way but not more as that takes too long at 15 mph.
Recharge can be at nil cost inside surplus from rooftop solar photovoltaics.
As a test, I have also recharged it for free by DC-DC boost upconverter into the "36" (41.5 Volt) battery from a single 1x1.5 m^2 solar panel, but that needed watching.
Evening @wizzo227 I hope you're having a lovely evening?
I was thinking about getting my Husband an e-bike. Can I ask how do you find an e-bike compares to a "normal" bicycle? What would you say are the benefits and are there any drawbacks?

cost and safety are the issues. There have been some serious fires from recharging of E-bikes and scooters where the batteries have ignited into fierce flames in very short timespans. Likely enough, the more expensive models will be the safest. Recharging outside the home is preferable.

@meldrewreborn, ok that is a BIG draw back! You would imagine that they would have stricter safety checks before being placed on the market and if there are known issues with batteries it should be back to the drawing board. I know you are a bit of a stats person, do you have any stats on this at all? It would be interesting to see the ratio between Sales:Fires and how this compares between brands.
