Hi,
I understand that daily standing charge and unit prices for gas and electricity will go up at the end of my fixed price tariff but why is the monthly direct debit being offered based on me using twice as much gas as I have used in the last 12 months?
My usage will be the same (approx).
How can I change this DD amount?
The estimated consumption is >5800kWh and my actual usage for the last 12 months was only 2454kWh and that was before I had double glazing fitted which would make me use less gas to heat my home, not more.
@Andy65 hi, thanks for replying. I contacted them with that info, their initial response was just to repeat their original offer. But I'm persistent! Their 2nd response was to say they can't amend a usage number. Their 3rd was to suggest I pay and review after a few months. Then they said, well the cap is increasing again in October, to which I said we might have a change of gov by then that lowers it! Then I recalculated their figures to come up with a more realistic cost based on a pay-on-receipt-of-bill basis like I'm currently on and finally they applied the direct debit discount and we settled on that. Honestly, it's like getting blood from a stone. So now I'm setting up a 2nd current account to service that direct debit only so that when they inevitably screw up it doesn't affect my finances in general. Success. In a limited way!
It's good that you've got somewhere @Polaris but it shouldn't be so much of a battle. For what it's worth my fixed deal ends at the end of this month and eon-next have slightly underestimated my usage when calculating my options, so they can clearly be accurate.
