Hey @Simon79, @Stratto & @Juepets, how did you get on with your smart meters in the end? Are they all back up and running?

@Beki_EONNext hi yes I did get it sorted it took a lot of miss information from EONNext telling me things that were wrong. The don’t seem to be able to manage anything very well. I then moved to Octopus Energy and don’t seem to have the same problems everything went smoothly when I moved across.

Old gas meters had dual bellows in them which inflated alternately and the number of inflations was geared to measure the volume of gas used. Modern meters, including smart meters predominately use electric sensing devices inside to measure the flow - so are not mechanical but operate from am internal battery which is supposed to last 15 years. If the battery fails then the gas is no longer measured - but the gas isn't actually disconnected.
