The Smart Switching programme is an Ofgem led initiative that has the aim to improve a customer's experience of switching energy supplier. It aims to reduce the number of switches that fail, improve customer service and limit switches that maybe shouldn't have gone ahead.
This industry wide change will see some suppliers reduce switching time to just 5 working days in the early stages, moving to one working day in the near future. E.ON Next have chosen to jump right in and start offering some customers next working day switching from the get-go!
💡 Credit customers can switch in 1 working day.
💳🔑 Prepayment customers will be able to switch in 5 working days.
💫 Business customers will be able to switch in 2 working days.
So what does that mean for our customers; new and existing?
This means that you could be on supply with us from the next working day! You will have 5 days from the switch date to give us your opening meter reading (if you've got a communicating smart meter then we get this automatically) and boom! You're already taking advantage of 100% renewable electricity!
Your consumer rights aren't affected either, so you still get that 14 day cooling off period; you may just be on supply with us during this time.
I'd love to hear what you think about faster, reliable switching and what you think it means for you! What do you think the benefits of it will be?
