Thanks @neilmorgan and just to double check absolutely nothing else shows when you scroll through the screens?

I have scrolled through all the screens. It shows the usage by money or KWh but it never shows feed in. There is no page with a pylon symbol on it or any other indication of how much my system is feeding back to the grid.

Did you have the smart meters before you got the solar? If so, the IHD wouldn't have had the 'solar' functionality enabled, perchance.

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

@retrotecchie A good thought but no, I’ve had the solar for over 10 years. I told the engineer it wasn’t working correctly on the day he installed the smart meter. I have called Eon many times and been promised all sorts including visits but nobody turned up.

    @neilmorgan

OK, another question. Can you read the meter manually and access an export register to see your total exported energy, or do you have a completely separate export meter for the grid feed? Or even, do you not have an export meter and are just claiming FIT on a 'deemed' capacity?

Hi @neilmorgan I've done digging on this and the IHD's usually don't show Export, however some do for example the ivie hub unit. I have read that the ivie hub IHD's do record export, however It would come down to the meters that are compatible with the IHD to record this information and be set up to do so. If your system is 10 years old, I would anticipate this would not be compatible to show on the ivie hub.

With Solar, I would always recommend looking at your meters, as this is a requirement for entering the reads, all readings for FIT or SEG must be from the physical meter and not an IHD, Bluetooth device or App. I understand having everything in one place would be ideal though.

The best and most accurate place to see your Export read, would be the meter in the export menu as this would be accurate and show you exactly what is going back to the grid. The smart meter should have a key/icon that shows you when the system is exporting, on the older meters it was a RED light which meant Reverse Energy Detected, i'm sure the smart meters use a pylon, however I would need to see your meter before confirming.

I will continue to do some research on this for you and if anything new comes to light I will be in touch, reach out if you need anything else.

    Thanks

    Hi Lee,

I have the Chameleon IHD supplied by Eonnext, not an Ivie.

I think you are misunderstanding me. I don't want to get an export meter reading, and the type or age of my generation equipment is immaterial. All I want is for the IHD to tell me at any moment what energy I am exporting, in just the same way as it will tell me what I am importing and being charged for. It's what EON say the IHD will do, see this guide: EON Chameleon IHD Guide

If I want an export meter read I can look at the display on the Smart Meter itself, not the IHD, and that tells me how much electricity I have exported.

    Hi Neil

I understand, apologies if it's come across otherwise, I will do my best to help here. Are you able to read your Export read at all? Just want to check if this is more than 0 or has it moved at all in the last week?

The attachment talks about net export so this could potentially be why showing, then goes on to say 'when you export more than you use the pylon will show on the live screen'

We obviously would expect some export however depending on the size of your system, in my experience I wouldn't expect to see on average anyway, someone exporting more than they use, however there are so many variables to Generation, Usage and Export.

I will keep looking to see if there is anymore information out there on this, it would be nice for you to be able to see all of this in one space. Your meter will record live export and will always show you what's going back to the grid, with the generation meter showing you what's being generated. The difference between the two would be what you have used within the house.

From what I've read so far, for the IHD to record export you would need to export more than you're using at the time. Which would again come down to the size of your system and usage.

    Thanks

See page 9 of this instruction leaflet: EONNext IHD

This is what I want it to do. The engineer that installed it agreed it wasn't working as it should, I know other people with the same display that tell me it works fine, but mine doesn't.

My display says zero when I'm exporting.
The way to save energy is to use anything you generate as it's very cheap electricity, but because my display says zero all I know is I'm exporting something.

It might be 100W export, or it might be 4000W export. If it's 100W it's wasteful to turn the dishwasher on, as I will pay for most of the electricity it uses at full day rate.
However if I'm exporting 4000W then I can switch on the dishwasher and washing machine and use both for free.

It's not just a nice idea, it's what the display is SUPPOSED to tell me according to EONNEXT's literature supplied with the display. It's not worked since day 1 and nobody seems to know what to do about it; I'm sure it's a configuration issue.

    Hi there,

There are many occasions where I am exporting more than I use. When that happens display says zero, just as it did in the picture I posted. At the peak of a sunny day I'm exporting around 4KW, but that varies as the sun moves around. The display never varies, it says zero, and the pylon logo never lights up. So there is definitely a net export going on, and the actual smart meter itself records it, it just doesn't show on the IHD as it says it should in the literature.
