Eon installed the Electricity & Gas Smart meters plus the IHD which regularly lost connection with the gas meter but readings were still sent automatically. Eon said there was a technical fault and that they would notify me when it was fixed, which didn't happen.
Moved to EonNext who stated that the gas meter readings would need to be manual for a few weeks.Three months later still not sorted. IHD still dropping connection to the gas meter once or twice a week BUT I seem to have found a work-a-round.
When pressing the button on the gas meter to take a reading the IHD reconnects. A recent check with CitizensAdvice showed that the gas smart meter was working correctly so I guess my question is why can't EonNext receive the readings?
The gas meter is powered by a battery and to preserve its life the gas meter connects to the communications hub by radio (of some sort) only every 30 minutes to relay readings. Your IHD also connects to the Communications hub so at your end things seem to be sort of working. If the electricity readings are getting through OK then it's down to the DCC and eon next to resolve. You can only chase this through Eon next though.

@meldrewreborn Hi, Thank you for the advice. Due to the increase in energy price I drastically reduced the usage of gas and supplied gas meter readings as requested. I don't think EonNext believed the low readings I submitted as they have since read them from their end and low betide the IHD is now working.
Problem solved.
