I sent EON next an email asking what hours the night rate started and finished (I'm near Birmingham) and I got a strange reply saying that they needed a gas meter reading from me even though my house has a smart meter. I am quite confused as I don't see what a gas reading has to do with what I thought was a very simple question.
Thank you so much, Retrotechie, for a such a full and, especially, easy to follow reply. I have done what you said and have discovered that my code is 811 so my night time starts at 00.30 (presumably 01.30 under BST). It also shows that there hasn't been a gas meter reading for 48 days (I.e. since we moved into the house) so I will send a reading today. Thanks again..
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Thanks, yet again. I did what you said and discovered that the gas meter is registered on the system and is supposed to be working as a smart meter but isn't sending readings. I sent a manual reading today.
I owe you a pint or two.
Might just be worth dropping an email to hi@eonnext.com with your account details and gas meter MPAN and ask if they can just give it a bit of a kick from their end, as it seems to be an administrative issue rather than a DCC communications problem.
Hi
I've just allegedly had "multi-tariff" smets2 meter fitted
waiting for my meter to be configured to Economy 7
I live in South Wales, E'on next have given me two diffrence times
00:00 - 07:00
00:30-07:30
your supply details have not been updated yet, and the image reveals you are still on a single rate supply. The first of your options is more likely, but you would also need to look out for GMT/BST changes - for which you would need the details from your new supply number (when you get it) and then refer to my post in the E7/E10 section. You will need the detail from the top left and middle boxes of you supply number and the top left should be 02.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
They don’t seem remotely correct to me. The first code should be 2 and the second 3 digits starting with 8. Physical observation may be the only way for you to tell once the meter registers 2 consumption tiers.
@meldrewreborn
I have been waiting some time to reply to you as you are obviously au faite with technical issues (compared to Eon staff - but that's not saying much!). The first thing I want to ask you relates to the meter time switch code. Mine is 826 That doesn't seem to fit in with your table of data. Eon operative tells me that the off-peak times are 11pm to 7am, but I have limited trust in what they say. Anything question: rate 1 and rate 2. Which is day and which is night? The former resident of my bungalow (now deceased) put a scrap of paper in the meter cupboard stating 'rate 2 is day'. I don't think that is right, but I wait to hear from you. One final question relates to the clock in the meter. Is this always GMT or does it change for BST? Actually the clock is about 25 minutes slow - could this be accounted for when I turned the power off to change a light switch? Did I say that was the final question? I lied! One more - definitely my last - I want to change my Economy 7 meter some time for a single rate meter (preferably not a smart meter). Have you any recommendations of how to go about that? Thanking you in anticipation.
