You and many others if its from Eon to Eon Next. Its legitimate and there's not much you can do about it.
The only other way this can be done without your permission is if your previous supplier has failed, and i haven't read of any in the last couple of months.
If you name names we can advise you. Remember though it could be a mistake or a scam.

Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Received an email with address and account details from Avro/Octopus energy which confirmed my account and tariff information - hopefully it’s just an error
I would contact eon Next customer services advising them of the letter and stating clearly that you did not initiate the switch and you do not want to move to them.
Then contact the letter sender and state that there is an error of some sort because you did not request/ initiate such a switch. Maybe somebody else did and there is some gremlin in the account set up.
