Fix priced tariffs are available from time to time, but they can be withdrawn at any time with little notice. Its entirely possible that there might be only the variable price tariff (at the Price Cap) available to you when your current fix ends, but as far as I understand it these have no tie in attached and so you can switch to a fix price tariff at any time one becomes available.
Also, at the moment, from what others have posted, a recent fix price was 40% more expensive than the price capped prices, so in the short term you'd be saving money.
Contacting Customers services is often difficult but more so today (31 March) as other customers are crashing the website trying to log their readings before tomorrows price increase!

All sorted for now and agreed ill be switching to a variable price in the near future for the short term before better fixed tarriffs become available again.
