I would like to know why the electricity rate will increase.
Might the sun radiation or the wind or whatever else you use to produce my 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY now they cost more?

Although E.ON Next electricity is backed by 100% renewable sources (through E.ON's renewable generation assets, agreements with UK generators and the purchase of renewable electricity certificates), the electricity supplied to your home or business comes from the National Grid and Distribution Network Operators. The distribution network operator (DNO) is the company that owns and operates the power lines and infrastructure that connect National Grid network to your property. National Grid doesn't connect directly to homes and businesses because its voltage is too high.

Since renewables and nuclear will always run when they can, it is fossil fuels – and at present, gas, plus the cost of taxes on CO₂ pollution – that subsidise the rest of the energy production, albeit a small amount (under 40% in the UK and only about 20% across the EU). unfortunately the most expensive generator sets the price almost all the time and so the wholesale costs rise across the board. It's really sad that this is the case because I strongly feel there should be an energy market specifically for renewable energy so that the price for renewables is not dictated by fossil fuels and their carbon costs. 🌍

Because you don't actually get 100% Renewable Energy @Ricardo, and more importantly, there's the regulatory body OFGEM which is supposed to act in the consumers interest but doesn't.

My observation is this, there's no shortage of Gas and Oil, just market speculation hiking the prices. Then there's the energy companies that have gone bust, so there's a need to recover losses there. The Government gets 5% Vat so there's an opportunity to collect a lot more Vat.
OFGEM have said that the Standard Variable can increase by a whopping amount (Energy Suppliers and Government both rubbing hands), but more importantly they have allowed the Daily Standing Charge to be increased by an incredible amount. The increase to the SC should in theory be negligible, but if for example you wanted to recover losses, generate income etc, increase by a very large amount and you get a guaranteed income. I would also say that it's even more fishy that it's being increased for the summer months when consumers should be using less, again it can only be to generate a fixed income.

On the back of what's happening in the Ukraine, investors, energy suppliers, Governments, oil companies, supermarkets etc, are all smelling the whiff of opportunity to increase prices by large amounts and get away with it.

Over the last 12 months, 34% of Great Britain's electricity came from renewable sources (excluding imports).

The electricity increase is largely down too the price of Gas used to generate some of our electricity, The notion that you can get just renewable energy from a supplier is a fallacy. What they mean is that they pay somebody for some certificates to show that the renewable energy has been produced.

Following your explanation nobody can use 100% renewable energy from any provider because the cables are not of providers property. NOBODY.
Therefore tell what is trumpeted in your website is clearly a SCAM

All the electricity is generated from a variety of fuels/sources and is indistinguishable once its into the grid. But if say a company is selling 20% of the total being used and is also pumping 21% of the input energy from 100% renewable sources are they not entitled to make the claim that they are supplying their customers with renewable energy?

The same argument goes for gas.

Surely if you want to promote the generation of renewable energy, and allow customers who care about the source of their energy to favour one supplier over another based on its green generation credentials, you have to allow the suppliers to advertise its credentials in an acceptable manner. While ideally you might wish for there to be a totally isolated set of cables carrying renewable energy separately from the rest that isn't at all practicable, and probably never will be. The current system is as good as its going to get. It isn't a scam at all - its the best solution possible given the circumstances.

I’m not stupid and I know it: the problem is if a Company promote the brand telling “100% renewable” and it is not true, IT IS A FRAUD and maybe there is enough space for a class action.
