I can’t seem to get an exact answer anywhere
when u move home can you take your current fixed rate deal with you or do you have to end your current one and start a new one ?
do your buyers take over your fixed rate ect?
i don’t know how it works but if preferably like to take my current fixed rate deal with me? Can this be done ?
The rule is that any new occupier will go onto the standard variable rate from the supplier that supplied the out going occupant.
So if you leave a property and were supplied by EON, then the new occupant will have to commence with a standard variable rate (not your outgoing fix) from EON.
Once that is complete you are permitted switch to another supplier and/or tariff. That doesn't happen much at the moment as there are few fixed rates available and tariffs on the variable rate from all suppliers are price capped at, or just fractionally below, the OFGEM price capped rates. So for the moment the competitive energy market is virtually dead.
