Hi,
Like most people, we are looking to get on the best tariff. We are currently on 'Next Flex' and the options we have are 'Next Online v 12' at £203.74 pm - £2,444.91 annual or 'Next 1 Year v 7' £296.11 pm - £3,553.28 annual.

Both are fixed tariffs and the descriptions look the same apart from a reduction in standard charges and unit rates for 'Next 1 Year v 7' but these charges are minimal.

Are we missing some other big advantage for the much more expensive 'Next 1 Year v 7' tariff or are we simply better to go for the 'Next Online v 12' tariff?

Martin Lewis of MSE says V12 is the cheapest and best deal out there!! I'm going g to switch even though it means another 1300 a year!! With a likely further increase of 25% in Oct best switch now.

you need to compare both with the variable price capped tariff Apr -September 2022 which is circa 15% lower than V12 for the 6 months it will operate. From October 2022 onwards the rate will change though, many expect the rates to go even higher by an unspecified amount. No easy choices I'm afraid.

Many thanks to you both for your input and advice. As oldmoondog said, it's probably best to go for V12 even though there might be a further increase in October. We did consider the variable tariff being lower but as meldrewreborn said, it may well go higher, with the uncertainty of not knowing how much. It sounds like it's best to go with V12 even though it's still a big increase. I think it's a case of better the devil you know. As mentioned, no easy choices!
