I've looked into fixing my energy for 1 or 2 years and when I select the tariff v11 for example, the next screen shows the monthly figure of £234.50 from the previous screen but theres another figure - much higher of course - of £290.03 that has to be paid till 2022-12-05.
My simple question is, is this May or December as the date can be read 2 different ways.
If it's May then that's fine but if it's December then thats very misleading as it's around £56 extra per month for 6 months of a supposedly 12 month fixed rate.
If you have an outstanding debit balance on your account this will increase your payments until it is eliminated. On the face of it your debit balance is 6 times £56 = £336.
You are not the first to post on this topic so perhaps eon could do more to explain the issue in their quotation.
You owe the money. You naturally want to pay the debt off over a longer period but your supplier wants it back more quickly. Once you've cleared the debt you can negotiate to bring the DD to a more reasonable level. At the end of the day this is about timing of the payments and not the total to be actually paid.
You should do everything you can to limit your bills by cutting your consumption as even with the "benefit" of the fixed rates energy costs are high compared to recent decades.
