Hi, EON are recommending that I fix prices as I’m currently on Flex. My options are;
Next Online V11 - £185 for 12 months
Next 2 Year V18 - £194 for 24 months
Next 1 Year V5 - £227 for 12 months
I don’t understand why I would want to choose V5 over V11, for example. Is V18 the most sensible option? I’m so confused, and just kinda deflated/demoralised at the money I’m having to allocate to fuel right now. Very thankful for any advice.
The best advice currently (per Martin Lewis) is not to fix, as there is no assurance that these will save money compared to staying on the price capped figures through to October 2022.
If those are your choices V11 is supposed to be same as cap, V18 does sound good to cover the next price rise in October. But it is always difficult to work out if paying more now will pay off.
When i just went to fix with V11, which for me would be 96 per month, you seem to be going to pay 104 for the first 8 months, so that has stopped me dead and i dont know what to do either.
might just shut this off and take a chance.
@chimpspanner I think everyone in the UK is feeling the same way a the moment. It's a difficult decision as none of us know what is going to happen in the near future. A positive side of being with E.ON Next is that if a cheaper tariff does become available, we always recommend that our customers switch and they can do this at anytime, without paying any exit fees.

I just saw here on twitter that Martin Lewis 'does' advise to 'grab' a Eon Next price fix. Check it out👨🎓
I watched his video on MSE and he sat on the fence regarding eon V12, but to take V11 - however that was long gone. Its only Eon that is offering a fix at all at the moment.
If the certainty is important to you take the fix. If you don't want or need the certainty stay on the variable. At least with any Eon next tariff I think tere are no exit fees so you can change when you like. Note though that v12 is 62% more than the current price cap - applies for month of march, 15% above the apr 2022 price cap and likely cheaper than the October 2022 price cap by an amount that nobody can predict. So its impossible to make a guaranteed correct decision on which option will result in the lowest outlay.
