For over a week now my IHD (Chameleon 2 I believe) has just been showing "Waiting for current data". It's a few years old now but since this issue started the device keeps rebooting every 30 seconds. It'll sit on the "waiting for current data" message for a while and then the screen goes blank, all the lights come on at the bottom, then it displays the GUID and the the firmware version (2.1.3). Rinse and Repeat.
If I contact eon next will they be able to send out a new IHD or how would I got about trying to get a replacement?
@Vaga222 Hey, thank you for taking the time to post on the Community.
You can always try a manual reset by following these instructions.
To reset your IHD please follow the instructions below.
- Unplug the device from the mains, and switch it off (there is a small on/off button on the device, press and hold this until it is off).
- Take the device near to your electricity meter, as close as possible.
- Switch the device back on (hold the on/off button down) the device should come back on and resync.
If that doesn't work, it may be a connectivity issue - do you know if your smart meter is sending readings?
Sending positive energy to you,

The IHD is rebooting itself every so often all by itself but I've also manually turned it off and back on again. It's been sitting less than 1 meter from the meter ever since this issue started.
I was talking to an agent on the phone about a separate issue and asked if they were able to see any data coming from the meter. They were unable to see any live data either and it's looking like the website didn't get an automatic meter reading either.
Quite frankly, I'm pretty shocked about how little it appears can be done to debug and resolve the issue. Given the advice I've had from various eon agents over the last few weeks I can only assume that when the IHDs break the customer is out of luck, no more smart meter for them.
Of course, the icing on the cake is the message here - https://www.eonnext.com/help/ihd - under the "My IHD says “waiting for data” what does this mean?" heading. Not only is is copied verbatim from the Eon site but (according to the way back machine) has been the same message for over 18 months.
@Vaga222 Have you tried contacting Eon Next through Twitter via Private Message yet? It's quicker, more helpful and more reliable than Facebook!
