I wonder if someone can explain why the price of gas and nuclear energy is pushing up the price of my tariff when, I'm assured, my electricity comes from %100 renewables? Thanks.
@norrid Hello there, Beki here! I have been going through some of the older posts and came across this one with no response! I want to thank you for taking the time to post on the Community and hopefully I can answer your question a little bit - although it may not be relevant now.
Basically, in short, it is supply and demand. There is a really interesting article that you can read here that explains why green energy is affected by the energy crisis and also what the impact of the energy crisis has on green energy. 🌿
The UK has not invested enough money into developing the infrastructure to to produce a reliable and cheap 100% renewable source of electricity generation for the long term because priorities for public spending lie elsewhere e.g. beating the pandemic, HS2 etc.
The £5000 heat pump grant, then is a step in the right direction, but we have a long way to go with housing development grants. Even homes arn't insulated adequately or helped with grants anymore for solar panels.
I would be happy to pay a green tax for this, knowing that the money is going, (where it should be to develop carbon neutral electricity) like I am happy to pay National Insurance for the health and care sector if it is used wisely.
Instead, sadly I'm afraid, we are paying for neglect and mismanagement causing the energy crisis; not just our fault, but mainly Russia and China, leading to higher inflation and don't seem to be on track to save the world from climate change.
@Landmark - Sadly you are so correct. There is not enough funding or actions from the government fr anything to do with the climate crisis. And don't get me started on HS2....
@Beki_EONNext I don’t think it’s just the government we was on eon next it got changed eon next then we was on quarterly payment which we found better.with you monthly now.no choice.we have been with eon for a long while .and we next got told it was going on eon next no choice.our tariff changes in March 31st.2021.now this prices going up.we have only been given 3 choices of tariffs which not good.we would like to go on v12 fixed.asked a price no answer email no one answer phone
@Sindy, I am so sorry that you haven't got through to anyone. Have you got an online account? You can view your tariff online and also change it there. 😊
I'm so sorry to hear about the issues you've had with us previously. I know it's been a while but I would love to check in with you both about how your experience went?

it seems to me that any large supplier. Say EDF, could bid exceptionally high prices and every other supplier benefits. This doesn’t work for consumers.
supplier providing power at more than 60% of the average bid price should face additional taxation.
it seems to me that every additional EV or heat pump adds to the need for gas generated electricity, which is illogical.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

True but excessively bids by greedy suppliers for electricity generation compared to another generator might mean a rejected bid. However I suspect that all gas generators have bids at a similar price (like milk costs the same from most supermarkets) but whether these similar bids reflect the costs I don't have a clue.
