Hi, hoping to get some clarification in reference to the ECO government scheme, offering a free boiler replacement and/or home insulation.

Having referred to the government content on the scheme, it specifies that a free boiler, home insulation, can be provided if the individual fits the criteria listed (which I believe I do). It also states that energy companies should have notified customers of the scheme.

Eon have not contacted me regarding the scheme this year (or the previous year). Could you please advise how I can apply for the scheme, as the information currently provided is quite sparse, and I'm unable to locate specific details.

Can you give us a link to said government content? As far as I was aware, details of the next iteration of the scheme expansion as announced in the Autumn Statement have not been finalised yet.

E.On Next do have a link to the ECO scheme in their energy saving pages, but the link no longer works.

E.On Next are under no obligation to contact you about the scheme, just to provide information to allow you to apply. That information is currently missing, it appears.

More details here. No mention of new boilers.

An additional £1bn to help British households insulate their properties has been announced by the government.
The money, which builds on an existing scheme, will target homes that have the worst energy performance.

What is the insulation scheme and am I eligible?

Eligible households will be able to receive grants of up to £1,500 for household insulation (such as cavity wall or loft insulation), under the the new Energy Company Obligation + (ECO+) scheme.
To benefit, households need to:

be in the lower council tax bands (A-D in England, which is 81% of properties, A-E Scotland and A-C in Wales)
have an energy performance certificate (EPC) rating of D or below

About 80% of the funding will go towards households that do not currently benefit from existing government support to upgrade their homes
The remainder of the funding will be set aside to help the most vulnerable households - including those in fuel poverty.
The scheme will start from the spring and run for three years. According to government estimates, households that take part could save about £310 a year on their bills.
The government says it will publish more information in due course about how to apply, but advises people to contact their local council or energy supplier to see if they are participating.
Until now, the ECO scheme has only been available to fuel-poor customers or those receiving benefits.

It also appears other energy companies such as Octopos, British Gas, EDF etc, are participating in the ECO4 scheme, having checked their websites.

E.On Next will be obliged by OFGEM and the government to participate. Once the information is finalised, I'm sure they will put something on the website. Meanwhile you can enquire directly by emailing them at hi@eonnext.com.

Seems like this is, yet again, a postcode lottery!
