unless you live remotely you’ll get radiation meant for you neighbours. That is unavoidable.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

So long as your old Economy 7 meter doesn't use RTS, you'll be fine just hanging on to your old meter. Of course, if you live in a terrace or a semi and any neighbour either side has a smart meter, or WiFi, there's not a lot you can do about that. My meter needed changing before I even moved into this property. It's now over ten years out of certification. I don't want it changing...they don't want to change it. Simples.

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

No not really important just that the Economy 7 signal is soon to be switched off.

No, the RTS signal is being switched off. Economy 7 itself will not be affected unless you have an RTS control system for your electric heating and hot water or your meter uses a ratechanger.

If you have an ordinary digital dual rate Economy 7 meter with no RTS gubbins, it will carry on working perfectly.

Good morning @VIOLIN Welcome to the Community! Great question and understandable a big concern given your injure so thank you for sharing. I can see that our members have been super helpful with this and given out some amazing answers.

I've checked in with the Smart meter/RTS team directly with this to make sure we've got every angle covered before I reach out.

Your exposure to radio waves from smart meters is well within guideline limits, and lower than from WiFi or your mobile phone. Public Health England issued a statement to confirm they see no health risks from smart meters. I do understand that you've not got a mobile phone and have been recommended not to have wifi from your phone provider. However from Generally speaking No, unless it can be proved and depends on the circumstance which I agree your circumstances are slightly different to just not wanting it but from a safety point of view this would no affect your health. You said you're are on the register with Headway if they are able to confirm that due to your condition it's not safe to have smart meters then we can look into this and have a conversation on an individual basis.

We wouldn't book an appointment in the pretense knowing it would be dumb once the engineer left we're not allowed to do this although it has been mentioned in the past its compliant for us to do this.

I hope that this has put your mind at ease a little bit 😊

while your reply follows the scientific evidence, the fact is that for @VIOLIN, the installation of a smart meter would be , I think, detrimental to their mental health. Clearly it’s a matter for discussion between supplier and customer, to which others are not, nor should be, party, but I wanted you to know my strongly held view.
