The Holiday Energy Consumption Test

In three days away from home this week, my house (which has solar panels) used and bought 0.8 kWh per day of electricity.
Anyone can test the same whenever you go away for a few days of holiday; just write down the number on your electricity meter (or in home display of a smart meter) at the start and end of your holiday.
In the same period, my gas meter showed 0000.000 cubic meters of change. The boiler and central heating pump remain switched off until needed.

    Hey @wizzo227

I hope you enjoyed your time away, did you go anywhere nice?

This is a great tip Wizzo227, I always do this when I go away too and each time I'm always surprised by how much energy the fridge freezer & router actually use! I guess this is where a smart meter / IHD can come in handy as you can scroll back through and compare your usage from the previous days or weeks too so you can see what devices are your energy vampires 😊
