I have gas and electric prepayment meters , Can i change both on normal meters , the best option for me is smart meters ?

Yes it would be, but up till now E.on next hasn’t been removing prepayment in favour of credit meters for a variety of reasons. This may be changing now , but the queue might be long, irrespective of credit worthiness.Current Eon Next and EDF customer, ex Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
Level 116-12-22@meldrewreborn No pal, but I think I need change for credit meters , in my area I have a problem with top up, all payment points have been removed, the first is long distance from my home -

At the moment we are not exchanging prepayment to credit unless it is due to vulnerabilities for example things such as relying on electricity for oxygen where it would be high risk to go off supply or being housebound with no support to top up where it has been evidenced there are issues with topping up etc. We are however installing smart pay as you go, it means that you still top up but you can do it online, by phone, via the app or you can still top up at the shop using the supplied barcode instead of key/card. Although if you swap a conventional PAYG to a smart PAYG, it only takes 30 seconds and a couple of command messages via DCC to the meter to convert it to a credit meter. No engineer visit or change of meter required, and as soon as they are able to offer 'upgrades' to a credit meter on their systems, then this may be the way to go in the interim.
In exactly the same way as smart credit meters can be converted to SPAYG meters...The SMETS2 standard allows switching in either direction. Not only allows, but facilitates by design.

True, but as they have said they are looking to change their systems to facilitate this in future, there's always hope. There is also a choice of other suppliers...
