Why has there been no reassuring communication from Eon about the prospect of millions of people terrified at budgeting for bills they will not be able to pay this winter and have to choose between food and heating.

The high level of bills this winter is down largely to world events, compounded by an ineffective electricity wholesale market. Eon can only work with the imperfect price cap, and in reality its not for Eon to provide nice warm words for what is a truly bad situation, its for the government to take the appropriate action. We all have to make choices in life about how we spend our money. Heat and light are essentials, but we can each decide how much heat and light we want and can afford - nobody else can do that for us.

Having lived through previous periods of high inflation I know full well how dispiriting things can look, and in the 1970's inflation reached towards 30% very much higher than today. We came through that then and we will do so again. Nobody though would pretend its going to be easy.
