I'm in credit at the moment,and intend to build it up throughout the summer by making ad-hoc card payments.
What is the maximum figure that one can accrue before a reduced direct debit amount kicks in ?.....obviously I don't want the DD figure to decrease,as this defeats the object of the exercise.
I'm not sure that there's a limit on credit meters but you need to be wary of your annual review. Can you check your previous bills and see exactly when you last had one? They're usually mid summer I think so you could be getting one any time now.
Alternatively, open an instant access account and syphon your money into there, presumably you're wanting to build up credit to cover the imminent increases in fuel costs and winter.
@Andy65 Hi Andy,I take your point about a savings account,but I want to,as it were, "File and forget" payments to build up a buffer for next winter,as it would make admin easier for my missus should I pop my clogs 😉
@greyhound I know where you're coming from, when my Dad died I found a significant amount of cash in envelopes that my Mum knew nothing about.
As I said see if you can check previous bills for your last annual review, my guess would be wait until August and then load it up but you need to check to be sure.
Even then, e.on-next are likely to return a minimum surplus for obvious reasons.
