Simple arithmetic

    Someone at Eon Next needs to get a grip with their IT system. I have had two FIT statements now where the simple task of subtracting one meter reading from another has been done wrong. A case of "computer says". Doesn't anyone at Eon Next have simple arithmetic skills to sort out these problems when pointed out to them? I guse not because they ignore emails. My two meter readings were 28857 (June) and 28117 (April). According to Eon Next, the units generated by my solar panels was therefore 369! A child could see this calculation is wrong. It seems the Eon Next computer has a simple programming error where it is halving the units generated. This is nothing to do with the assumed 50% exported units because guess what, for that element the computer calculates half again (of the already halved figure). So result is Eon Next only pays out half the total it should each quarter under the contract. Whoever programmed the IT has incorrectly divided by 2 the twice - once for the full rate calculation and then again for the exported element. Over reliance on IT means no one has any basic maths skills anymore.

    @Snoopy It's a sign of the times I'm afraid and common with many companies. The vast majority just read off a screen and won't, or can't check. It's hard enough to get to speak to someone these days, then it can take multiple attempts to get through to someone who actually understands your problem AND can actually do something about it.

    Absolutely agree with you, glad it's not just me. Every large organisation we deal with, without exception, is the same. Nothing, absolutely nothing, works in this country anymore. Largely down to over reliance on IT and years of dumbing down the workforce. All with "A stars" of course but not an ounce of common sense or basic numeracy skills. God help us all if same level of expertise is sitting behind a control panel for a nuclear reactor.

    Community Team
    @Snoopy Hey there 👋

    Thanks for posting. I'm Deb one of the community co-ordinators here on the forum. A FiT generator is on a contract rate of 100% generation and 50% deemed export so the only deduction would be from the Generation units to export units, nothing else. There may be another issue perhaps if there was an over-payment in the previous window but that would be the only situation we would make any other deductions.

    If you are still having trouble or would someone to look into this further for you then I would recommend you contact our dedicated FiT team on 0808 501 5218, their lines are open 9-5pm Monday - Thursday 9-4pm Friday 😊
