Smart Meter STILL not working since forced move to Eon Next in November

When my 92 year old father was forced to move to Eon Next (from Eon) in November his Gas Smart Meter stopped working. That was 21st November 2021. It is now 8th June 2022 and it is STILL not working. I have telephoned, emailed, written letters, contacted the CEO and Ofgem and nothing has been done. I have been blithely told that it could take up to 2 YEARS for this to be fixed. My father is 92, has limited mobility and eyesight, is on the "Priority Services" register (although that seems to be of no use!) and he has to ask neighbours to read his meter!!!!! I suspect that the only way to resolve this is to change supplier. Is there anything else I can do to get this matter sorted?

Hey @simont,Welcome to the community.I'm sorry to hear that you've had this experience, I don't know if this has already been done however as you've mentioned that your Father is on the PSR, we can set it up so that someone will come out to read the meters every 3 months instead of 6 monthly, if your Father is having trouble with it. Has anyone explained what the issue with the smart meter is? Deb

I'm in exactly the same position since being forcibly moved to Eon Next. Also on the PSR and contacted Customer Support today who informed that they cannot contact my meters. Nor can they give me a date for fixing them. What is the point of a PSR? For some reason my meters are indicating that I am on a PAYGO rate. So I have no idea if I am being charged at the correct rate or when I can stop climbing a step ladder with epilepsy before my smart meters do their job.

If you are on the psr you can have a meter reader call. PAYG is more expensive than DD so you are being overcharged. A formal complaint should be lodged if customers lodge complaints the company has to sort the matter properly

Thank you Meldrewreborn, I don't know why I ever moved to a company with such gross incompetence. Now its impossible to move out at the moment.
