Transfer/Switch Date

    Hi all,

    I've enquired about my transfer/switch date to E.on and have been told by a number of the E.on team that it will definitely be the 15/07/26. However I have received this email from Octopus this morning saying,

    "Thank you for getting in touch.

    I’ve checked your account, and your supply is still with us at the moment. There is no confirmed switch date showing on our end yet. It’s likely that E.on have cancelled the original switch request and will initiate the transfer closer to the date you’ve asked them to take over, which is the 15th of July.

    For now, your supply remains with us and there is no end date set yet. You may need to reconfirm from them what date they hope to initiate the transfer over to them.

    If you have any other questions or need further help, please do let me know."

    This is of course left me concerned that they haven't been notified of our switch date. Could this be due to what they have mentioned above that this will happen nearer the time? I have my emails that confirm the switch over dates, I've spoken to someone over the phone to confirm AND on the app it says the transfer will be 15/07/26. Help!

    @kayleighj - I think you're worrying unnecessarily.

    You don't need to contact your current Supplier to confirm the switch as the process is handled by the new Supplier via the Central Switching Service

    Hey @kayleighj 🙂

    I completely understand why seeing that email from Octopus would cause a bit of worry, but try not to panic.
    As the gaining supplier, we handle the entire switch process from our side.

    What Octopus mentioned in their email is actually very common. Energy switches don't usually broadcast to the old supplier immediately when you first sign up. Instead, the official "request for supply" is automatically triggered in the system closer to the actual transfer date. Because July 15th is still about a month away, it's completely normal that Octopus can't see the confirmed date on their system just yet.

    If your E.ON Next account and app show the 15/7/26, that will be your official switch date. That date is locked into our system, and our automated process will handle the changeover and notify Octopus exactly when it needs to.

    You don't need to do anything right now. Just sit back, and we'll take care of the rest of the move for you!
